Also known as the William J. Devine Golf Course, this 18 hole public golf facility, operated by Sterling Golf Management, is the second oldest public course in America. This venerable old course offers a pleasant inner city golfing experience only minutes from downtown Boston. Golf legend Bobby Jones used this as a practice course, and specifically used land adjacent to the twelfth hole as a practice area. This is where he honed his golf game while attending Harvard. He went on to win "The Grand Slam" of golf. Franklin Park measures 6009 yards from the blue tees, 5622 yards from the white tees, and 5240 yards from the reds. Wide open fairways and receptive greens make for a friendly, pleasurable, golfing experience. A brand new clubhouse was erected in 1998, and features a fully stocked Pro Shop, a comfortable lounge with fireplace, and state of the art locker rooms. A function facility that accommodates 200 people is also available.
